School Year Program
The program we offer during the school year has three main components. They include a morning thru early afternoon section, an afterschool section, and an academic component.
Morning thru Early Afternoon Section
The morning thru early afternoon section meets four days per week: Monday thru Thursday. This program is open to students from 3 years old to young adult. The curriculum includes passive and active stretching, fine motor activities, standing, walking, life skills (eating, dressing, etc.), academic skills, and assistive technology skills for communication and academics.
Afterschool Section
The afterschool section meets four afternoons per week: Monday thru Thursday. The program is open to students from 3 years old to young adult. The curriculum includes passive and active stretching, fine motor activities, standing, and walking. These activities help students in building function and mobility, developing communication and socialization skills, and acquiring strong overall physical health. The goal is to increase student’s abilities to access academic curriculum, feel more confident and exhibit greater self-initiation and independence in all areas of their lives.
Academic Component
ConductAbility currently contracts with Claremont Unified School District and works with students from other districts to provide academic and other student supports. The level and type of support provided varies based on each student and may include technology for communication and to access academic curriculum, physical positioning, curriculum, speech therapy, occupational therapy, as well as provide for other needs of students. ConductAbility also serves as a setting for students who home school providing for each student’s needs including curriculum, tutoring, and instruction.
Summer Program
Our summer program is intensive and the students have had the greatest benefit from their participation in this program. The students attend all day from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, which includes both snack and lunch. This program focuses on:
- Building function and mobility
- Maximizing self-initiation and self-esteem as the student experiences daily success
- Significant opportunities for communication and socialization
- Promoting strong physical health
- Building academic skills
- Teaching daily living skills, such as dressing, eating, and personal hygiene
